About

Our Mission

Loving Christ, growing relationships, reshaping lives

At Faith Community Church we accomplish Our Mission by encouraging families to get involved in FaithGroups (our Small Group Ministry) and becoming Community Builders by volunteering for programs inside and outside of the church to build our community!

Our Program Staff

Pastor Stan is our Senior Pastor. He has been a pastor of growing congregations in New England for over 35 years.  He is known as an excellent Bible teacher with a passion for people.  He is visionary and came up with the idea to create Faith Community Church as a multi-site church that serves the South Shore of Boston.  He and Regina have been married for 36 years.  They are the parents of two sons, David (who is married to Laura) and Todd (a college student).  Stan loves running, collecting old vinyl records (especially classic rock), and traveling.

Pastor David is our Associate Pastor of Worship and Young Adults. David grew up in this church. Blessed with gifts in teaching, discipleship, and music, David is incredibly excited about having the opportunity to see what God is doing through our church on the South Shore. He and his wife Laura have been married for five years. They recently bought a house in Carver, MA. In addition to his pastoral work, David is a special education teacher in a local high school.

Pastor Josee is our Site Pastor at Faith Community Church – High Street.

A member of the church for over 10 years, Josee has been involved in many different ministry areas. She has a passion for teaching, Faith Groups and Bible study, and is excited to use her gifts as part of a multi-site church. Josee has 5 children, Meghan, Kailyn, Ryan, Jaimee and Dylan. She and her husband Rick have been married for over 8 years. In addition to her pastoral work, Josee enjoys working in the Plymouth school system. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, going to the beach and photography.

Miss Meaghan is our Children’s Ministry Director.

She grew up in this church and is thrilled for her own family to be part of such a loving and supportive congregation.  Meaghan is dedicated to keeping her Children’s programs fun and fresh so that children (including her own) are excited to attend.  She has a passion for helping children and families get closer to God without feeling forced.  Meaghan is incredibly creative and is always working to improve the next Special Event at Faith Community Church.  She enjoys traveling, listening to a wide variety of music, and hanging out with friends and family.  Meaghan and her husband Tim started dating way back when they were just 15 years old!  Today they are living in their 3rd house in Plymouth and have 3 wonderful young children – Bella, Jake, and Luka.

What We Believe

“The Apostles’ Creed”, the full version of Reinhold Niebuhr’s “Serenity Prayer”, and John Wesley’s “Covenant Prayer” are the best indicators of what you can expect as normative beliefs at Faith Community Church.

FAQ

Do I need part of a denomination to attend?

Absolutely not! Our congregation is made up of people from a variety of traditions. The reason people attend our Faith Community Church is because they find a loving, Christ-centered church family with sound Biblical teaching.

How would you describe Pastor Stan?

He is outgoing, energetic, creative, and practical in his preaching. Every Sunday he connects Biblical teaching to everyday life. He also has a love for running, his dogs, collecting records, and makes way too many references to his home state of North Dakota.

How would you describe Faith Community Church?

We are a growing congregation with a variety of worship styles, passionate spirituality, a Christ-centered Biblical teaching ministry, a growing number of FaithGroups where people of all ages can connect, and Community Builder opportunities so that everyone has an invitation to serve.

What is the worship like?

We have two worship services each Sunday: Our 9:00 am service is more intimate at is held each Sunday at High Street in Duxbury. This service is casual with a more traditional feel.

Our 10:15 am service is our larger service and it is held each Sunday at Plymouth. It is contemporary with a love of church tradition.

At Plymouth, Pastor Stan Cushing delivers an insightful al Biblical message each week to help us grow in our faith. He also preaches twice a month at High Street and our High Street Site Pastor, Josee Tolles preaches twice each month. Sunday morning Scriptures are the same at both locations and the same theme is followed.  At Plymouth, there are Sunday school classes for all ages including adults.  At High Street we offer a one room schoolhouse class for all our children.

Childcare is provided at both High Street and Plymouth.

What is the role of an Elder and the Elder Board?

According to the New Testament, elders are responsible for the primary leadership and oversight of a church.

Elders:

  • Meet to prayerfully consider the direction God wants for the church [Acts 15:6]
  • Summary: Elders shepherd, oversee, lead, and care for the local church

Methodist Early Learning Center

Faith Community Church created our non-profit, Methodist Early Learning Center as a response to the need for excellent, value-based, childcare and pre-school in the Plymouth area.  Our program is state certified, and we have long-term, certified teachers to make sure your children have excellent care and parents can get to know their children’s teachers.

Our purpose is to provide a warm, loving, creative and stimulating environment in which pre-school children can grow, play and learn together. It is our job to prepare your child by giving him/her a sound foundation so that he/she may find his/her introduction into kindergarten a pleasant and rewarding experience.
