What’s My Objective?

What’s My Objective?

Read Hebrews 12:14
Thought for the Day: Strive for peace with others and holiness with God!

When we were children, life was relatively simple: we did our chores or we lost privileges. We completed our homework or stayed home when our other friends went out. Moving past childhood, however, life became a bit more complicated as we learned that often there are multiple ‘good options’. Today we sometimes find ourselves feeling like there are no good options at all.

However, even though grown-up decision-making is more complicated than what we experienced as children, it is helpful to remember that we can go back to a mindset we learned when we were growing up. Every day we went to school, our teachers created specific lesson objectives with desired outcomes. When we sat down to read a paragraph or complete a science lab, we were doing so for a reason. It is with this same approach that we can deal with complicated situations. Put simply, whatever we are facing, we can always ask: “What’s my objective?”

The Scriptures give us a two-part answer: “Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.” If our motives are based on the quest for peace with others, we are on the right track. Also, it’s important for our actions to be in line with God bringing about holiness in our lives. When we see that our part is to strive for peace and holiness, our path becomes clearer.

The next time we find ourselves dealing with a complicated choice, let’s pause and pray. When we remember that our objective is to pursue peace and God’s holiness for our lives, life is much simpler!

In Christ,
