06 Apr I do have enough
Read Luke 24:1-12
Thought for the Day: I will say no to “the lie”!
In our family, there is only one sport and that sport is basketball. This year, David has been telling me that the Celtics need to trade “everyone but Tatum” for Karl-Anthony Towns (the star center from Minnesota). Until a few days ago, he seemed to be right. Then something incredible happened; Coach Brad Stevens began starting Rob Williams. Williams is a 3rd-year player who is short for an NBA center and can’t make a jump shot. Simply by realizing he had enough talent on his team already, Coach Stevens’ team is back with a chance to make a deep run in the playoffs.
A lie we often tell ourselves is, “I don’t have enough”. When the Apostle Paul was in jail he refused to let his circumstances keep him from spreading the Gospel throughout the world. Paul wrote to the Philippians and encouraged them to follow his example because “I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content”.
When we think “I don’t have enough”, we miss what Jesus has done for us. If you are anything like me, you have had more than enough moments in your life when you have let “the lie” rule the day and win. Let’s remember that with Jesus we have more than enough and can be content in every circumstance. Rather than searching somewhere else, let’s realize that today we already have everything we need. To view life any other way would be to believe “the lie”!
In Christ,
Pastor Stan (and David)
