He Chose to Reveal Himself (Forty Days with Jesus – Day 24, Mar 16th)

Read John 4:11-26

Thought for the Day: Jesus is the Messiah!

Is there any greater moment than “the reveal”? Whether it’s the dramatic unmasking at the end of a Scooby Doo episode or the “I am your father” speech in The Empire Strikes Back, there is something infinitely exciting about the moment where the audience finally gets to see what the suspense was heading to all along.

As amazing as it was that Jesus was even willing to sit down and have a conversation with a Samaritan woman, that moment was nothing compared to what came after. Throughout their conversation, Jesus began slowly revealing Himself. First, He hinted at the notion of “Living Water”. Then, He showed that He knew enough about her past for her to remark, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet.” Then, He hinted a bit more until asking one more question and finally revealing Himself: “I who speak to you am He.”

Fortunately for us, we don’t need to wait for a dramatic reveal moment. We know that Jesus is the Messiah, period. He is fully God, fully Man, and lived a perfect sinless life before being put to death on the Cross and dying for our sins. Then, He rose on the third day, spent 40 more days on earth, and ascended to Heaven. He has promised to return and, in the meantime, simply wants to be the Lord of our lives. Let’s never forget that He is the Messiah!

Reflect & Pray – Is Jesus the Lord of my life? If not, am I open to recommitting to walking with Him today? God, thank you for Your Son, Jesus – the Messiah!
