06 Jun God Has a Wonderful Plan for your Life!
Jeremiah 29:11
I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD.
Jeremiah was a young man when he was called to be the “reluctant prophet” for Judah. He came from a long line of priests. The priests were those who attended to the temple and made sure that everything stayed the same. The prophets were the ones who either shook things up or gave encouragement. Jeremiah wasn’t sure he wanted to do either!
When Jeremiah started his ministry, Manasseh was king. Manasseh was only 12 years old and was a completely disobedient leader. Try to imagine how hard it would be to have a stubborn, middle schooler who refused to follow God running the country!
As expected, things in Judah went from bad to worse. Eventually the Babylonians conquered Judah and took many into captivity. Now, Jeremiah wrote a letter to these exiles. In the midst of 70 years away from the country they loved, they received this letter to give them God’s hope for their situation.
Jeremiah reminded them that God had a plan for their lives. He went on to say that it was a plan for “Shalom”. Shalom is the Hebrew word for peace. Just like with us, God wanted them to experience a peace that went beyond their circumstances.
Today, you may be facing something that makes you feel as if you are in exile. Whether a personal issue or something with a love one, please remember that in the midst of life’s most difficult struggles, God’s plan is for peace. I invite you to pause, pray, and give thanks. When we give thanks to God for His plans in the midst of our struggles, we begin to discover that God really does have a Wonderful Plan for Our Lives!
I invite you to listen to Hillsong United’s song, Oceans. It is a great reminder that God is always available for us to call upon Him. We belong to God and He is ours!
