02 May God did not create us to be islands!
Hebrews 10:24-25
Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together.
In seventh grade I first heard quoted John Donne’s “No man is an island”. My teacher, Mrs. Anderson explained it to us in a class. She told us how Donne wrote that each one of us is like the Continent of Europe. If some of Europe gets washed out to sea, it is less of a continent than it was.
The writer of Hebrews helps us see God’s will for us as Christians. Simply put, we need each other. We are encouraged to meet together so that we can encourage one another. This is much of what it means to be a Christian. Every person matters and that includes you!
I invite you to take time and reach out to someone. Tell them what they mean to you and how they have helped you. Let them know that you are thankful for God putting them in your life. We are often amazed at how words of encouragement toward one another makes such a difference in another person’s life!
This week I encourage you to listen to Kristyn Getty as she sings, “Come, People of the Risen King”
