14 Feb Time to “Turn it Over”
Genesis 15:6
Abram trusted the LORD, and he counted it to him as righteousness.
We’ve all been there. We know that doing it our way doesn’t work, but we still exert our will and find ourselves frustrated once again. Our intentions always seem to be good, but for some reason we have to learn the hard way. So we learn one more time that trusting God and letting go would have saved us time, frustration, and a new mess to clean up.
Abram and Sarai had their own concerns. At times they were the model of faithfulness while at other times they were the poster children for “Doing it my way”! The Bible is clear that when they trusted in God, things were not always perfect, but God was faithful. Through their life they discovered that God’s way was far better than theirs.
In Genesis 15:7 we read that Abram and Sarai were learning that the only way they could make sure they would be right was to trust God. This time the stakes were very high. They had been unable to have a child.Their fear was that they would have no descendants. Then, the Bible says they “trusted the LORD”. In that moment they knew everything would be ok!
Whatever you are facing today, I invite you to give it to God. God has been faithful in the past, and He is with you today. Here is a prayer I invite you to pray,
Dear God, I give you my concerns today. I choose to give up control and will trust that you are working. In Christ’s name I pray. Amen.
Laura Story’s song, “Blessings” has given many of us comfort as we strive to give God control of the things we don’t understand.
