Then, the Bible tells us something amazing. At the very moment that Adam and Eve thought they would face humiliation at the hands of God they discovered that God is the God of grace and mercy. Adam and Eve had lost their innocence. God knew this before they ever said a word about what they had done. But, God also had a plan to restore them to a place of dignity.
Adam and Eve felt “naked”, so God made garments and clothed them. This is what God offers to you and me. I have learned over the years that many Christians go through life holding onto guilt and shame from something in their past. This past may be earlier today, yesterday, or 30 years ago. What matters is that God doesn’t want us holding onto the past, but He wants us to experience complete forgiveness.
Nine times the Bible calls this being “clothed in righteousness”. I invite you to once and for all “Let go and Let God”! This means confess to God what you are holding onto and fully believe that God has forgiven you in Jesus Christ. The result will be new garments not just made out of animal skins, but prepared especially for you by our Savior, Jesus Christ!
